The Centre for Traffic Research (CTR) , previously called the Centre for Traffic Simulation, was founded in 1995 by the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI). In 2004 Linköping University (Division of Communication and Transport Systems at Department of Science and Technology) joined as a partner.
The CTR administration is located at the School for Architecture and the Built Environment, at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. The CTR director is also guest professor at the Division of Transport and Logistics (ToL), Dept. of Transport and Economics at the Royal Institute of Technology, where he heads the Traffic Simulation research group.
